Play @ J's
Welcome to Play @ J's Child-Centred Play Therapy with Heart, where children can find healing and growth through the power of play.

At Play @ J's, I offer a safe and nurturing environment where children can heal and grow through the transformative power of play therapy.
My child-centred play therapy approach allows children to express themselves freely and explore positive ways to transform their self-perception.
By providing a supportive space, I help children navigate their emotions, build self-confidence and develop healthier relationships.
As an Early Childhood Practitioner Service (Children under 9), I follow a Key Worker model and provide a cohesive and consistent support system for families, ensuring that all aspects of your child's development are addressed holistically. By acting as a central point of contact, I can coordinate with various allied health professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to create a seamless support network for your child.
Discover how Play @ J's can make a difference in your child's life today.

Meet Joss
My Journey and Commitment to Child-Centred Play Therapy From Classroom Beginnings to Therapeutic Excellence My journey began in the classroom 30 years ago, where I dedicated myself to creating environments that fostered the growth and development of all children. Here, I saw firsthand the profound impact of providing safety, opportunities for exploration, and avenues for expression. A Diverse Educational Background Throughout my career, I've held various roles in education, including Student Counsellor, Preschool Director, Inclusive Preschool Program Teacher, and Inclusive Educator. I became a staunch advocate for inclusive education, recognising and valuing the diverse strengths and learning styles of all students. My commitment to educational excellence was acknowledged when I was named a finalist for the South Australian Excellence in Public Education award in 2015. Specialising in Childhood Trauma and Development Driven by a desire for knowledge and a commitment to making a difference, I pursued advanced studies in childhood trauma. I earned a Graduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma and a Diploma in Counselling with a major in Child Development and Parenting, and certification in Child-Centred Play Therapy. These qualifications provide me with valuable insights into addressing behavioural challenges, trauma, and the unique needs of neuro-diverse children. Dedicated to Neuro-Affirming Practices I am deeply committed to neuro-affirming practices, supporting children as they communicate, heal, and thrive through the transformative power of play. My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment where each child feels safe to explore and express themselves. Personal Experience with Trauma and Resilience On a personal level, my experiences have given me a deep understanding of the impact of trauma and adversity. As a mother of two and caregiver to my late sister's children, I know the challenges children face in dealing with trauma and loss. Navigating life within a blended family has further deepened my appreciation of resilience and the critical role of emotional support, particularly in the context of divorce. Creating a Safe Haven for Well-being In every interaction, my aim is to foster a safe, nurturing environment where children can explore, grow and flourish. My dedication to empowering young minds extends beyond the therapy room—it is a lifelong commitment to making positive change, one child at a time. An Invitation to Begin the Journey If you're seeking a compassionate guide for your child's journey, I invite you to reach out. Together, let's create a space where every playful moment nurtures development and well-being.
